The Mirror of Love and Self
The Roads to Love
The love we’re able to receive
Determines how we see our soul—
What truths we hold, what webs we weave,
What keeps us distant from the whole.
It shapes the way we walk inside,
And how we touch the world we see—
The senses stir, the thoughts divide,
Reflections of our heart’s degree.
The Heart as Threshold
The heart’s not just a thing to fill,
It holds a door with hidden key.
It waits upon the shaping will,
To love, or drift from what could be.
The Roads That Bind
Five passions stand on roads we take:
Greed walks with hands that grasp too tight,
While anger leaves a blazing wake,
And lust consumes the soul with night.
Attachment clings like morning dew,
Then vanity reflects a face—
A mask that hides what once was true,
And blinds us to our inner grace.
Practices of the Free Heart
Yet other paths are paved with light—
Discrimination’s steady flame,
Forgiveness softens pain and fight,
Contentment asks for no acclaim.
Detachment frees what we possess,
While humility bows low to learn.
These virtues open hearts from stress,
And turn us from the paths that burn.
The Power of Choosing
But keys and roads mean naught alone,
Without the steps we choose to make.
No gate is moved by thought or tone,
If we just dream and never wake.
The Need for Guidance
Right action lights the way ahead,
But rarely comes by chance or whim.
Without a guide, we’re often led
Through shadows, lost and growing dim.
Love in Motion
A teacher’s hand, or trial and fall,
Will point us to the door of grace.
And when we act upon love’s call,
It steps with joy into its place.
